Canada Government Accounts
Get set up with
CRA and WCB.
A new corporation needs its government accounts in place before it can legally run payroll, remit tax, or hire staff. We register your business number, program accounts and workers’ compensation coverage so you’re compliant from day one.
government accounts
- One filing covers CRA business number & all program accounts
- Provincial WCB/WSIB coverage matched to your industry
- Most accounts active within 1-2 business days
The accounts every employer needs.
Incorporating your business is only step one. Before you can pay yourself, hire an employee, or charge GST/HST, your corporation needs to be registered with the right government bodies.
CRA Accounts
Business number registration plus the program accounts your corporation actually needs — payroll, GST/HST, corporate income tax and import/export.
Workers Compensation Board Account
Mandatory WCB/WSIB coverage registered in your province, rated to your industry classification, before your first employee starts work.
From incorporated to fully operational.

Business number (if you have one), corporate structure and expected activities.
We select the right accounts
Filed with CRA & your province
Applications submitted directly to the Canada Revenue Agency and your provincial WCB/WSIB board.
Confirmations delivered
Account numbers and confirmation letters sent to you as soon as they’re issued.
Skip a required account, and enforcement follows.
The moment you pay any employee — including yourself as a director — a CRA payroll account and provincial WCB coverage are legally required.
Directors can be held personally liable for unremitted source deductions and unpaid WCB premiums — registering properly protects you.
Avoid back-dated fines
Operating without required accounts can mean penalties and interest retroactive to your first payroll.
Proof for clients
Larger clients and general contractors often require proof of active WCB/WSIB coverage before signing.
Every province
What each account is for.
CRA Accounts
Every corporation needs a business number from the Canada Revenue Agency, and most need one or more program accounts attached to it — payroll deductions, GST/HST, corporate income tax, or import/export. We determine exactly which accounts your business needs and register them all under one filing.
- Registers your CRA business number if you don’t already have one
- Adds payroll, GST/HST, corporate tax and import/export accounts as needed
- One point of contact instead of separate CRA applications
Workers Compensation Board Account
The moment your corporation has an employee — including a director drawing a salary in some provinces — workers’ compensation coverage becomes mandatory. We register your account with the correct provincial board (WSIB, WorkSafeBC, WCB Alberta, CNESST and others), rated to your industry classification.
- Registered with the correct provincial board for where you operate
- Industry classification set correctly from the start, avoiding reassessment
- Certificate of coverage available for clients and general contractors
CRA & WCB accounts, explained.
Do I need both a CRA account and a WCB account?
If you’ll have any employees — including yourself on payroll — you need both a CRA payroll account and WCB/WSIB coverage in your province. If you’re not running payroll yet, you may only need a business number and GST/HST account for now.
When is WCB/WSIB coverage mandatory?
It becomes mandatory as soon as you have one or more employees, and in several provinces even a director drawing a salary counts. Requirements and thresholds vary by province and industry, so we confirm your specific obligation before registering.
Do I need a GST/HST account right away?
Only once your revenue passes $30,000 in a rolling 12-month period, or if you want to register voluntarily to claim input tax credits earlier. We can add this account now or later as your business grows.
What happens if I operate without registering these accounts?
Can you register accounts in more than one province?
Yes. If you have employees or operations in multiple provinces, we register WCB/WSIB coverage in each one where it’s required, alongside your single federal CRA business number.
How long does it take to get these accounts active?
CRA accounts are typically active within 1-2 business days. Provincial WCB/WSIB registration timelines vary by board, generally 2-5 business days.
